The light and rain sensors of the newer car generations are not any more bonded to the windscreen, but fixed with a retaining bracket or with the rearview mirror base itself. To realize the optical connection between the sensor unit and the glass surface a cushion made of a special silicone gel is used.
Our gel pads are made of a special silicone material with comparable optical characteristic than the original gel cushion. Due to the precast and accurately fitting shape the reuse of a sensor unit thereby is very fast and clean.
Here is how to: After cleaning the dismounted sensor place the slightly oiled gel pad accurately on the optical unit and fix the sensor with the retainer bracket or the mirror base to the windscreen. The contact pressure of the fixation and the oily surface of the pad will let all eventually entrapped air escape easily.
